Have You Haired About Coconut Oil Yet??

Psst....Come ere.....Lets chat about one of my favorite things ok? Well, ok... that's grand kids no wait.. its quilts! Oh shoot its grand kids.. well heck just listen up!
You all know about my love for olive oil eh? Of course you remember. Well, Over the last year I have been testing out a new oil! It all began with weight loss, and hair loss! I started using Argon oil(which I still love bunches!) to try to revive my thinning hair. Now, I'm not sure you know this about me but I have always had a bucket O Hair. I mean long, thick, lush, coarse mane. The lions mane. As I have been through quite a bit in the past few years, it added great stress on all fronts. With serious weight loss I found my mane to be coming out in my hands via conditioner in the shower! HORROR I tell you! I nightmare I didn't need at all. I set on a  quest to repair and stop this heinous crime of nature. I tried my beloved olive oil. Biotin vitamins. Argon oil. Less tool abuse,  Nothing was working. Until one evening in my stress reducing bath I noticed a smoothness to my hair while under water. I have always used a tablespoon of any available oil in my bath water to keep my skin supple. On this occasion, I reached for coconut. Why? you ask? Well, it was the cheapest and I could no longer afford the Olive nor Argon that's why!
I didn't rinse it out, in fact I piled all of my hair atop my head and went to bed. What I found the next morning amazed me, and yes sold me on this south pacific jewel! I rinsed my hair and found a sheen like never before. Without ANY weight or slickness to it either.
It started a year long test  on the benefits of the oil. It no longer resides on the side of my bath tub. I cook with it, Massage with it, remove make up, and shave with it! Last night, know what happened? A box of brownies were transformed into a Mounds candy bar!! I.Am.So.Not.kidding! Only a pecan frosting was missing from an otherwise German Chocolate brownie!
So I said to myself....self? Its time to share.
Got Psoriasis? Eczema? I know those who do and I shared, and its G.O.N.E.
I have had a condition called Bletheritus on my eye lids. One streak on a cotton swab at night and my last optometrist apt? G.O.N.E.
I now use it for so many things. My favorite being my body, nails, skin and hair. Its not oily, greasy, nor has a residual slicker to it. The skin just drinks it in leaving a smooth and soft feel.
::sigh::: I think I need a massage.
One kitchen experiment was a dip egg. I love me some dip eggs with tortillas. Now they say that to remove the scent and flavor while cooking, ( if so desired) to add a pinch of salt. Didn't work.. so heads up... Coconut eggs weren't so good. However.. the tortillas? YUM!
Now I know all the research has me eating this on a daily basis, however I can only sub out oils for it at this point. I will let Dr. Oz scoop up a spoonful, not for me. Oh hey! New recipe! Cut up flour tortillas, fry in coconut oil, sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar. A coconut Buenuelo! Wow! ( I don't eat these, oh no I don't.)
I have now done due diligence in my research and my findings are this.
This saturated oil is one of the good guys, and it falls off the Tree Of Life, for a fraction of the cost of others! Treat yourself to some too! I by in small jars at Asian markets for about 6.00.
This large container at Costco for 20.
Go Me!
Go You!

PS: My hair isn't falling out anymore, however I am gaining weight. Grunt.
Hey? Just keeping me real right?

Marvelous Mondays include:

Oh come on.... Coconut oil!
Weekends I can enjoy, work or not
My computer up and running again!
My new 9-5er and co workers. ( Imma start em quilting, u watch)

Who's YOUR Bra?

Have you peoples seen a breast cancer awareness advertisement yet? It begins with WHO"S YOUR BRA? LOL My first glance sure got a heads up! I decided to ponder who my bra is.

Good Morning!

Now pondering who your bra is can stir many images. The one above is the one I kinda like best. Somebody creative make it for me ok? Now I realize that its breast cancer awareness nearly 24/7 now, as it should be,  But it sure doesnt stop images of T- Birds wearing a black bra on the headlamps to protect it from those bugs eh? Or visions of the well hated Victoria secret Models for the world to ooggle ( how does one spell oogle?) on TV. How about the famed Madonna cones bra? Oh!! How about the cute bra purses walking around the malls a few years ago?? All kinds of images quickly come to mind! Its difficult to concentrate on the real meaning behind the ad! Lets try shall we? I think this conversation requires a coffee night myself, hmmm...changed to blogabout now didn't it? K, lets run with that.

My favorite, favorite all time piecer is a breast cancer survivor. She is so full of life and happy its just astonishing sometimes. She has lost both breasts, and she is STILL the happiest person I know to date. Amazing isnt it? Who is her bra? I think that a large part of her bra system is quilting! Much like my beginning, she too has become piecer extraordinaire! At least 20 quilts per year to me alone, not including her hand quilting. What a woman.... what a soul. I admire here greatly. She inspires me each and every time one of her quilts are on my table. I'm sure she has a wonderful human support system in place, but I know too that a stitch in time has also saved her mind!

*In an update, Pat Nemee has lost her battle however she has fought a good fight and now an angel to many. I betcha a quarter that everyone, save none, holds a piece of her everytime they wrap up in one of her quilts. I personally feel her guardianship quite often. Thank you Pat for your love and inspiration.

My Bra... hmmmm ..

My faith... Definitely uplifting, firm, and non separating! LOL ( I crack myself up)
My family and friends.. they are lightweight, comfortable, always in reach, attached to me daily. Well, most of them.. I have an Idaho heartache going on....
My man.... He is strong but flexible, has a wide back, soft to the touch, and very hookable.
( think bra people come on! I saw your faces)

My career... its just so damned expensive and durable! It should last and last! I want only to be a quilter for the rest of my days... even aged 100 in cute sneakers, running all available shop hops~!

God bless all of the hard working people trying to rid we women of this horrid disease.. and the women who have gone through it too!

Who's YOUR bra?

"Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great."

Five Years To Forever With Denim

I am making more of these placemats today while missing my Son. ( From many of his beloved designer jeans)

Tonight, I will work more on his tee shirt quilts. ( Karebear is drooling for hers)  I am certain that he ( James) would scold me for this disrespect of his jeans collection, but better to recycle them for my comfort, says I. The pockets I am working with today are considerably larger.. the droopy ones...lol It will be a fun memory this summer for cook outs:) Did I show you the potholders? ( snicker)
Unfortunately his Mama hasn't found the new normal that every one speaks of. I ponder this over coffee this morning. I have looked high and low and theres no normal to be found. Happy days? Yes. Tickled times? you bet. New normal? not yet. I wait longer. I'm sure in God's time. Have a productive FAT Tuesday Dear Blog readers.. I will too!
